Pattern Computer Inc. Announces Esther Dyson to Join Advisory Board

Redmond, WA, August 13, 2020

Pattern Computer® Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Esther Dyson, an active angel investor, journalist, author, businesswoman, commentator, and philanthropist, to its advisory board. Dyson will join a growing and renowned group of industry professionals excited about Pattern Computer and the innovations and pattern discoveries it is making daily.

Dyson is executive founder of Wellville, a 10-year nonprofit project focused on health, equity, and long-term thinking. Not a think tank, Wellville advises community leaders in five small communities around the US. Dyson is the author of Release 2.0: A Design for Living in the Digital Age (1997), reflecting her work as the owner / editor of the tech-industry newsletter Release 2.0 and the annual PC Forum conference (1982–2007). She is also an active angel investor, focused on health, AI-based applications, logistics, space, and emerging markets. Her investments include 23andMe, AskNickels, ChallengePost, EPAM, Epistemic.ai, Evernote, Ezra.com, Factual / Foursquare, GoodData, ICON Aircraft, Nanoracks, Omada Health, Prognos.ai, Robust.ai, SpaceX, Square, Startup Health, Swvl.com, Syllable.ai, TheBeans.io, Yandex, and many others.

“I’m excited to be working with Pattern and its machine learning / pattern discovery technology because I expect to gain some serious human learning from the experience. I also hope to help the company apply its unique technology to some important social and medical problems,” said Dyson.

“As both an investor and now advisory board member, Esther will help us to expand our role as a leader in third-wave AI. I look forward to working with her to bring pattern discoveries to new areas of health and healthcare, and computing in general,” said Mark R. Anderson, CEO of Pattern Computer.

In April 2020, Pattern Computer announced that two breast-cancer therapy treatments had completed final in vitro organoid testing at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in which malignant tumor cells were successfully killed with statistically “low-to-no adverse effects” on healthy cells, using short-runway, FDA-approved drugs. Those treatments are now entering animal-testing trials. Pattern Computer is also working with industrial and financial firms.
